1. What is PNEUSCAN?
PNEUSCAN is an automated tire inspection system measuring key parameters like tire pressure, tread depth, axle load and total weight of a vehicle. When passing over the sensor array, which may be mounted as an INGROUND or ONGROUND variant, these values are evaluated on the fly and sent to the system unit. For this calculation the loading condition of the vehicle is taken into account. Within seconds after the vehicle has passed over the sensors the results are presented at the systems display.
2. What is the benefit of PNEUSCAN?
PNEUSCAN offers a process for tire inspection that immediately unveils tire pressure deviations, low tread depth, unfavorable axle load distribution and uneven tread wear that may indicate issues with the wheel suspension. The user is directly informed of those conditions and the issues are documented electronically as well. Since the measurement is conducted at walking speed, the process flow of the inspected vehicle remains unobstructed.
3. For which types of vehicles is PNEUSCAN suite for?
PNEUSCAN is suitable for every vehicle with pneumatic tires. Cars, buses, trucks and even heavy load trucks with up to eight tires per axle are supported.
4. Where is PNEUSCAN in use today?
PNEUSCAN has been successfully introduced to several markets. Its use cases are manifold - whether it may be with companies involved with trucking, logistics, port operations, public or private passenger transport, waste management or even tire service providers. In the car sector a wide variety of users such as dealerships, repair shops, tire shops, rental companies, car washes or parking garages make use of the system. It is suited for both indoor and outdoor usage.
It is possible to connect PNEUSCAN to preexisting traffic systems. Here sensible combinations may be boom gate systems, toll booths and weighing stations. Furthermore a connection to a central control center is possible.
Es ist denkbar, PNEUSCAN mit anderen, bereits existierenden verkehrstechnischen Anlagen zu verbinden. Sinnvolle Kombinationen sind beispielsweise Schrankensysteme, Prüf- und Mautstellen oder Wiegestationen für LKW. Auch die Anbindung an zentrale Leitstellen ist vorstellbar.
5. What are suitable locations for PNEUSCAN?
PNEUSCAN is typically installed at a central place on the customer's premises like an entrance or exit or a maintenance area. This way most of the vehicles pass over the system regularly without disrupting the normal work flow. Whether this location is indoors or outdoors is of no concern, since PNEUSCAN is suited for both scenarios.
The modular concept of the tire inspection tool allows easy integration into the customers individual work flow. If there are still integration issues to address that are not covered by this already flexible concept, VENTECH Systems will work with the customer to find a customized solution for it.
6. Where are the results shown?
PNEUSCAN is capable to cope with different customer work flow scenarios. The vehicle data may be displayed at or sent to:any network connected terminal
- follow up data processing systems
- outdoor-capable displays for the drivers
- mobile devices
There is also a large LED matrix display available, that communicates the results with a reduced symbol set to the driver for a fast and easy recognition without interrupting the work flow. Since the key results like tire pressure deviations are shown with easy to recognize symbols also drivers from different countries will be able to use the system correctly. For a more centralized working scenario, all results can be viewed via PNEUSCAN DAT from a computer desk.

7. How is the tire pressure calculated?
PNEUSCAN utilizes the fact that the tires contact area depend on tire pressure, tire load and other parameters - it is called the 'foot print' of the tire. PNEUSCAN measures the pressure distribution along this foot print and calculates the tire pressure from this data.
8. What is included in the PNEUSCAN system?
The system is built in a modular way - the customer may choose which components suit his needs best.
PNEUSCAN consists of five core modules: tire pressure, tread depth, axle load, vehicle identification and a data base management system. The typical components for such a system are the sensor array, a vehicle id module, signaling devices and a system unit with the cabinet and output devices. A range of accessories and software features complete the package.

9. 9 How does the vehicle identification works?
In order to store the measured tire, axle and vehicle related data in a useful way, it has to be connected to a specific vehicle. VENTECH Systems offers either one or two license plate cameras or a RFID reader for this purpose. Measurement results like tire pressure, tread depth, axle load and vehicle weight are connected to the timestamp of the measurement and the identity of the vehicle. This way the user may conduct systematic evaluations of the recorded data.
10. What is required for installing PNEUSCAN systems?
Systems require a flat, even surface for mounting the sensors. This holds for both the INGROUND and ONGROUND variant. Furthermore a position for the system unit is needed. For this unit a standard power connection is sufficient. In addition VENTECH Systems recommends a network connection for PNEUSCAN DAT and an internet connection for the full technical support of the system by VENTECH Systems´s remote maintenance.
